Hyderabad metro’s another true face comes out


The attached news item in Andhra Jyothi (Telugu Daily) reveals certain facts - that the number of properties to be acquired is increasing significantly compared to earlier, that the Metro MD issued a fatwa to the officers including its PRO not to speak to the media, that he is applying AP Conduct Rules Act, 1964 to the officers and is behaving like a ‘dictator’, that an L&T company’s engineer has admitted that more number of properties may have to be acquired in future, and the people should cooperate in public interest.

Our view: We have been saying from the very beginning that this metro project is hiding more than what it is revealing. This is going to be one of the worst projects ever taken up in Hyderabad city.

HMR invites designs for shopping complex

Hyderabad Metro invites designs from practising architects

While the traders in Badi Chawdi-Sultan Bazaar-Koti-Putlibowli have outrightly rejected any plan for a shopping complex as an alternative to the existing shops, the metro authorities seem to be inclined only to the demolition of this heritage bazaar. And are inviting designs for the proposed project.
